Over 10,000 solid fuel boilers of Ukrainian manufacturers (KTO, KST, KSTB brands) are now in operation in Ukraine. They have similar design and are used to heat buildings. These solid fuel boilers generate flue gases that often have high temperatures and can cause significant air pollution.

To reduce heat and energy losses in a boiler system, one option is to reduce flue gas temperature.

A 10% reduction in flue gas temperature will improve boiler efficiency by 2.8%, and a 1% reduction in oxygen content will improve boiler efficiency by 0.8%, thus making solid fuel boilers more environmentally friendly.

We designed a flue gas heat exchanger (economizer) for solid-fuel boilers. The economizer consists of a box with two spiral heat exchangers inside for water/air heating and an ash hopper.
